COMPETITION RULES

Aim of the competition:

The aim of the 1st University Mölkky Cup announced for the 2025/2026 academic year is to provide an opportunity to get to know the sport of Mölkky and to popularise the sport.

Programme schedule:
09:30 – 10:00 Opening
10:00 – 10:30 Sport demonstration, opportunity to practise
10:30 – 12:30 Running of the individual competition
12:30 – 12:45 Presentation of individual event results
12:45 – 15:00 Running of the pairs competition
15:00 – 15:30 Announcement of results, closing of the competition

Participants:

Students and staff of higher education institutions in Hungary are eligible to participate. The competition will be held in individual and pairs events, and a university may enter multiple teams (pairs). There are no restrictions regarding the pairs; they can be mixed pairs, as well as student-staff pairs, but they must consist of students or staff from the same institution.

Game licence:

In accordance with the rules of the MEFOB General Competition Announcement, participants may include students of any state-recognised higher education institution granting a degree (those participating in full-time, correspondence, evening, or distance learning, as well as doctoral programmes) who are enrolled in a degree-granting programme of at least four semesters, or in a formal education system at the time of the competition, or who obtained their absolutorium in 2025 or 2026. Employees of higher education institutions may also enter.

Certificate:

The eligibility of the athletes is verified by the team leaders. During this process, team leaders shall verify the participants' eligibility to compete using a student identity card / a certificate of student status for the active semester, or a certificate of completion (abszolutórium). For university employees, an employment certificate no older than 30 days is required.

Management, sport regulations:

The pitch: 3×10 metres
The Mölkky set: Full-sized official tournament set provided by the organisers to the participants.
Game rules: Based on the competition rules available on the website of the Hungarian Mölkky Association (https://www.molkkysport.hu/versenyek/versenyszab%C3%A1ly) with the difference that a match is the best of 3 sets.
Game length: Games last for 12 throws, in the event of a tie 15 throws, games cannot end in a draw.
Match duration: Determined based on the number of entrants.
Kit: Wearing national team kit is not permitted.
Events: Individual and team competition (pairs).
Protest: There is no possibility of a protest; the Competition Committee will make a decision on disputed matters at the venue of the competition.

Entry and draw:

 The entry to the organisers via e-mail to the bella.daniel@zek.uni-pannon.hu  can be done by email address by indicating the competitor's name, institution name, Neptun code and category until 06 October 2026, after which the draw will be prepared and sent in advance to the contact persons of the entering institutions.

Fee:

The individual 1st-3rd place winners of the cup, as well as the 1st-3rd place teams, will receive medals and trophies.

Costs:

The prize money and the organisation costs of the championship rounds will be provided by the Zala University Sports Association (ZESE). The sports equipment will be provided by the Hungarian Mölkky Association (MaMöSz). The costs of travel, accommodation and catering shall be borne by the participating teams.

Both individual and team entries (per team) are required to pay an entry fee of 1,000 HUF to ZESE at the following bank account number with the following payment reference:

Others:

In disputed matters, the Competition Committee of the 1st University Mölkky Cup shall decide.

The Organiser reserves the right to make any changes, of which those concerned will be informed in due course.

The Organiser shall process the personal data of the participants in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council, and informs the participants that, upon request, it shall transfer their data to the MEFS for the purpose of data processing. The processing of data is carried out exclusively for the purpose of recording competition results, based on a specific and legitimate interest.
